In today’s world just about everything can be prepared for us, delivered to us, or packaged for us the way we want it. So it becomes easy to adopt that expectation and bring it into our faith, our relationships, and our jobs. And when we conform to the world’s mentality we adopt the “microwave mentality”. The “microwave mentality” means we want everything to happen quickly and at our pace. We want it when we ask for it and we don’t like waiting too long for something to come. Eventually the microwave mentality becomes our altitude for our faith, our prayers, and how we serve. If we can’t see it quickly we change churches. If it’s not packaged the way we want it we throw it away. If it can’t be delivered to us we won’t move to get it. We want everything to come to us but nothing to come from us. Bringing the world’s mentality into your faith journey will make it difficult to remain rooted where you are planted. You will become unsettled, anxious and frustrated. It becomes easier to give up and lose hope when things don’t look like what you expected. So we must keep our focus on Jesus. Just because it is delayed doesn’t mean it is denied. The harvest season will come just continue to do your part and be thankful that you have the opportunity to serve. Make the most every opportunity and remember the faith journey is a marathon.
